Greeting of the ICV chairman

Dear Sir or Madam,

2022 will go down in history as the year of a turning point. Politically due to the war of aggression in the middle of Europe. Economically as a result of skyrocketing costs on the energy and raw materials side, staff shortages, unstable supply chains, rapidly rising interest rates and a weak euro. Ecological due to the effects of climate change and the resulting political requirements for sustainable corporate management. Socially, because two years of the pandemic have divided society, changed lifestyles and led to a new world of work.

We are thus in a socially, politically, socially and economically particularly challenging time with framework conditions that are largely new territory and call into question familiar assessment and decision-making patterns. The new era demands managers and controllers like never before, but crises and upheavals always offer great opportunities - and the good helmsman or the good helmswoman can only be recognized in the storm.

The agenda of the 47th Congress of Controllers is characterized by the current economic challenges, because the new era also has massive effects on controlling. What’s overhauled can be thrown overboard. What’s tried and proved must be put to the test again. We currently see three urgent subject areas for controlling, to which the topic clusters and plenary lectures of the Congress are dedicated. Operationally, the successful handling of cost and price increases as well as the question of corporate planning in historically uncertain and volatile markets. Strategically, the issue of dealing with climate change, in which we must not waste any more time.

International top speakers provide insight into their solution approaches and impulses for daily controlling. Secure your personal knowledge advantage and take the opportunity to experience exchange. With this in mind, we invite you to the European highlight of the year in controlling. We look forward to welcoming you personally on May 15 and 16, 2023.

Sincerely yours

Heimo Losbichler

Chairman of the Board ICV International Association of Controllers
