History of the first meeting

On September 1 and 2, 2011 the sector work group Transport and Logistics was successfully established in Hanover. Hosts of the founding event, which took place in Hanover, were üstra Hannoversche Verkehrsbetriebe AG. The participants unanimously elected Dr. Christian Schneider, Managing Director of Regionalbus Braunschweig GmbH, for the Head of the Sector Work Group, and  for deputies Gerrit Preckel, Managing Director üstra Reisen GmbH and Prof. Dr Andreas Wiesehahn, Professor of Accounting and Controlling at the University of Bonn-Rhein-Sieg.

The event began on the first day with a visit to the Glocksee courtyard and the headquarters of Üstra. From the ICV, Dr. Walter Schmidt, Member of the Board, as well as Dieter Meyer, Regional Delegate East, participated in the event. Both moderated the opening of the event. Dr. Walter Schmidt talked about the tasks and working methods of the ICV, Dieter Meyer reported on the goals and self-understanding of the sector work group. The first day ended with a successful evening event with beer, wine and Bavarian food and allowed an informal learning and networking.

On the second day, Wilhelm Lindenberg, Managing Director of Operations and Human Resources as well as the Personnel Director of Üstra, welcomed the participants of the newly established sector work group and presented his company in detail. At the end of the event there were two successful presentations. Dr. Björn Bohlmann, Principal and Head of the Competence Center Transportation of Horváth and Partner, spoke about the need for permanent restructuring. Torsten Windels, Chief Economist and Head of Research at Nord LB, presented strategies and instruments to hedge transactions and market risks.
